Coronavirus Update

4/18/2020

Dear Robotics for All Volunteers:

In the past few days, there have been many updates from educational institutions, governmental organizations, and other entities regarding the recent Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak in the United States and many other countries. At Robotics for All, we are taking the situation very seriously as our top concern is the safety of our volunteers and students. As an entity unaffiliated with any parent organization or institution, we take the responsibility to make the right decisions very seriously.

For the time being, as school is not cancelled, we do not see the need to cancel any Robotics for All classes and will proceed as usual. Schools consult many health professionals when making their decisions and as such we believe it is best to follow their practices. If schools start to cancel classes, we will also cancel all of our after school classes. We will send another update if we get to that point.

During our classes, we recommend following the practices outlined below:
  • Wash your hands for 20 seconds or more before and after the class. While hand sanitizer is effective, nothing beats using soap and water.
  • Encourage students to also wash their hands and if not give them hand sanitizer (if available)
  • Stay home if you are sick.
  • Avoid touching your face, particularly after touching LEGOs and Robotics for All laptops.
  • When coughing and sneezing, use a tissue to cover your mouth and discard the tissue immediately.  If no tissue is available, coughing or sneezing into your elbow is the best alternative.
We understand that the cancellation of many events and activities can be extremely disappointing and frustrating. However, in our opinion, the frustration caused by the cancellation of events pales in comparison to that of what is experienced by people who have been/are sick. At Robotics for All, we offer our sincerest condolences to the tens of thousands of patients and their family members who are directly affected by the outbreak.

We will continue to keep you updated, but in the meantime wish you, your family, and your friends all the best during this difficult time.

Sincerely,

Max
